Independent & Kiwi-owned

Lockerbie Village is 100% New Zealand owned and operated. The Village was conceived when a small group of regional developers came together to breathe a bit of fresh air (and value) into retirement living. The goal was always to offer retirees high-quality, contemporary homes, in a beautiful, connected countryside setting with easy access to a great range of lifestyle options and amenities.

Part of the Local History

Lockerbie Village is a part of the history of Morrinsville and the land on which it is built is steeped in local history.

For many generations it was used by Ngāti Werewere, people of the Ngāti Hauā Iwi. In 1883, Thomas Morrin purchased the Kuranui No. 1 block as part of the greater Motumaoho land holding and founded the Lockerbie Estate. Morrin laid out the town to house his workers that was to become Morrinsville.

The Lockerbie Estate grew to some 20,000 acres. Morrin and his business partner lost the land in the depression of the 1880’s and the land was subsequently subdivided into single family dairy farms.

In the 1930s the Davies family acquired the farm on which Lockerbie Village now stands and farmed the land for three generations until the current owners acquired the land in 2019.

With stunning rural views, Lockerbie Village is an integral part of the new Morrinsville community that retains the name of Lockerbie Estate.
